GIRLS NIGHT.... IN!

Need a night with just the ladies?!  How about a Girls Night IN!

This night was all about fun with the girls as hot pink and zebra print set the stage for cupcakes and cherry vodka limeade martinis!  YUM!

All the girls came dressed in their PJ's for this relaxing night in... we had pizza, ate cupcakes, drank delicious cherry vodka limeades in sugar-rimmed martini glasses, and laughed until we cried.... what a fun night!

The drinks and sweets took center stage on our table with extra touches of confetti, a handmade flower ball and candles.  Before the guests arrived, we added sugar rims and cherries to all the glasses for a bright pop of color.  Scroll down for how to rim your glasses and how to make a festive flower ball!

One of my favorite touches was the sugar rimmed martini glasses.  They're just so girly and fun!  And who knew making COLORED SUGAR could be so easy!

Here's what you do..... throw the desired amount of sugar in a ziploc bag.  Dip a toothpick in pink gel food coloring (I used Wilton brand found at Michael's, Walmart, etc), and add the gel to the bag of sugar.  Then just shake, press and toss around until the color has dispersed.  So sweet and easy!

To make the sugar stick to the glasses, we dipped the rims in the cherry juice then rolled it in the colored sugar.

And for the final touch.... I just love this FUN FLOWER BALL!  It is surprisingly easy to make and can be done in any color you can think of!  I made this hot pink one just for fun one day, and was so happy with how cute it looked on this Girls Night table.  It added the special touch we needed!  Click here for the tutorial I followed to make it.

This turned out to be such a memorable night with the girls... and ended up being way more fun than going out!  We had lots of girl talk, played games (Never Have I Ever, anyone?!) and even recruited my husband for a hysterical round of Catch Phrase!

What a..... HAPPY LITTLE PARTY ! ! !

Father's Day Cupcakes

In honor of Father's Day, I am featuring "We Love You Dad" Cupcakes made with some leftover fondant I had on hand.  I just made plain vanilla cupcakes (actually, to be honest, I had some leftover cupcakes in the freezer!!) and added buttercream frosting in a flat swirl using tip 2D.  Then I just placed the fondant cut outs on top!

I am so grateful for my 2 Grandfathers that were always a constant and loving presence in my life, my own cool and loving Daddy, a kind and generous Father-in-law, and now an amazing and exceptional Daddy for my twins.  And another special shout out to my Brother-in-law for being such a kind and caring daddy to my 4 nephews.
Thank you for being great examples of what husbands and fathers should be!

Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes... fun easy summer treat!

SUMMER IS HERE!  Make ANY party (or play date, or girls night or Tuesday!) feel extra fun with these too cute ICE CREAM CONE CUPCAKES.  And even better... they are SUPER EASY!

ICE CREAM CONE CUPCAKES

makes approximately 2 dozen cupcakes

INGREDIENTS

On baking aisle:
Cake Mix of your choice (I used chocolate)
Frosting of your choice (I made my favorite buttercream, but canned frosting will do too)

On ice cream aisle end cap:
Ice Cream Cones (make sure they have a flat bottom!!)
Rainbow Sprinkles
Maraschino Cherries

INSTRUCTIONS:

Make batter following directions on cake mix box.  Grab your cupcake/muffin pan.  Stand up one ice cream cone in each muffin cup.  Fill each cone with batter (up to about the middle line of the cone).  Be sure not to overfill, because they will overflow when baking if you fill them up too much!  Carefully move pan to your oven and follow baking directions on back of cake mix box.  (I cooked mine at 350 for 18 minutes.)

After baking, let cupcakes cool completely.  Swirl icing onto cupcakes.  (I used tip 1M to make my swirl.)  Just start on the outside and make a "swirl" working your way in and up to a point.

Shake rainbow sprinkles onto cupcake and add a cherry on top.

TIPS:

I drained, rinsed and drained again the cherries and then patted them dry with a paper towel.  This helps cherry juice not pool on the frosting.

Sprinkle rainbow sprinkles immediately after icing each cupcake to be sure they stick.

AND THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF ALL....
These can be a little top heavy, and some of mine even "leaned" a little from the bottom of the cone while they were cooling.  To keep them from falling over on your platter, squeeze a little dab of icing on the bottom of the cone and then press onto your serving dish.  This did wonders to keep my cupcakes standing!

Now... let happy little mouths enjoy these fun treats!  Aren't they too cute?!?
